Ben got his start
working in a commercial woodworking shop in early 2000 at Northwoods Woodworking
in Floyd, Virginia. He quickly became the right-hand man there, and worked
there for almost three years. After
the family moved to Covenant Farm, Ben's father fixed up one of the outbuildings
on the property into a woodshop, bought him his first basic power tools,
and he was off and running. Ben took the profits from his early work and bought more woodworking tools, so that he had all the things he needed to start with rough sawn lumber and make beautiful crafts and birdhouses. He started off making picture frames and small furniture and finaly decided to try his hand at folk art birdhouses. When looking for designs
to build on the ineternet, it became clear Ben had a talent he wasn't
aware of: he could look at pictures, take the measurements from them,
and reproduce them in stunning detail. He started out selling his work
on eBay auctions until his father and oldest brother helped him build
this web site to market directly to the public. Ben also works on a framing crew when the work is available, building houses. The picture above shows him rebuilding the porch on our 1918 farm house. Ben is a devout Christian believer and is unashamed of his faith in Jesus Christ. As a representative of the Murch Family and of his Lord and Savior, he deals with everyone with honesty and integrity. He is also a street evangelist that can be found regulary preaching the gospel in public. The entire Murch Family has been involved in this for many years. The Murch Family Ministry is called Full Quiver Mission. |
