Spittin' Image Birdhouses are replicas made from photographs of your home. There are some designs that are simply too complex to reproduce in a birdhouse, but in most cases we can build a birdhouse that looks like your home. These make perfect gifts. They are functional birdhouses that will withstand the weather for years, or are great as an indoor conversation piece as well. Price on these is negotiated individually, as every home is different. Detail items such as plants, woodpile, well and other items you see on the Folk Art birdhouses are also available on Spittin' Image Birdhouses.

This is the beautiful home of Steve Shaner of Manhattan, Kansas, who received his Spittin' Image Birdhouse as a surprise Christmas present from his sister in Texas. Click on these photos to see how a Spittin' Image is made from beginning to end.

This birdhouse is the first of Ben's efforts in the Spittin' Image line. This is a replica of Patrick Henry's last home at Red Hill, in Charlotte County, Virginia, just eight miles from Covenant Farm. This beautiful birdhouse is like the original in virtually every detail. The basic box on this house is Southern Yellow Pine. The siding, porch, windows and other features are made of oak. The roof is made of real cedar shingles, painstakingly made one at a time, and individually installed on the roof the way it would actually have been done on the home.

This is the largest replica Ben has ever built, sitting on a 3'x3' base and weighing over 75 pounds. It was commissioned as a gift for a General in Lexington, Virginia. Take the virtual tour of this cabin, and you will have to look closely to tell which is the real cabin and which is the replica!

This English Tudor was built from ONE photograph on the internet, based on what can be seen in the photo and typical Tudor design...

And you can expect the same attention to detail when you order a Spittin' Image of your own home. If there are details that are not reproducable, you will be informed before the the project gets underway. Prices are higher than for the Folk Art birdhouses, because replication to scale is a painstaking process. The replica of Patrick Henry's home took over 30 hours to complete. Prices are quoted based on your home, but will be in the $450-$700 range, not including shipping. Brick homes are the ones that fall in the higher range generally, because the brick detail is so time-consuming to reproduce. Also, Victorians or any very ornate design would fall to the higher range.
